Babe Bib Sewing Steps:
Let's sew!
Footstep 1 - Print the Infant bib template
Decide on the size y'all demand. In dubiousness, choose the larger size. Print the pattern (link at the end of the tutorial) to a piece of paper-thin or paper. You'll cut two pieces of fabric from it, like this:
Stride ii - Optional Piecing
If you want your bib front pieced like I did mine (run across the piece above?), you'll outset cutting iii pieces of cloth and sew them together using a ¼" seam allowance (0.7cm).
To make it super easy for you, I did all the measuring and hither are the dimensions:
Y'all'll become these:
Step 3 - Cutting The Infant Bib pieces
Then utilise the template to cut 2 pieces from fabric and 1 from interfacing, interlining, or best a layer of terry cloth for maximum absorbance.
Bonus tips - What Interfacing to use for baby bibs?
Now, a few words on absorbance and a suggestion for extra-drooly babies: apply terry cloth every bit an interlining layer. Here'due south an paradigm to show you options and from left to correct, it's terry cloth, then thin woven fusible interfacing and batting. They are all good, merely terry cloth will always be the preferred selection for me when sewing bibs.
Step 4- Layer The bib pieces
Place the terry cloth on a apartment surface, and so one slice of material right-side-up, and the other slice of fabric facing downwardly (And so the textile will be RST, right sides together). Like this:
Stride five - Sewing the bib
Stitch around using a ⅜" or one cm seam assart. Make sure to go out a three" (7cm) gap at the bottom, for turning. Go slowly and use a short stitch length, information technology will brand sewing curves a breeze.
Footstep vi - Trim Off Majority On the Seam
Trim down the terry cloth layer shut to the stitching line to reduce bulk. Similar this:
Also, trim and notch the seam allowance on the material, using pinking shears, taking care not to snip into any stitches. I use my tiny and beautiful (and sharp!) polka-dot scissors to cut tiny V-shaped notches into the curved border portions. 1 matter to retrieve: exercise not trim down the seam assart of the three" part that has not withal been sewn.
Footstep 8 - Plow the Bib Right Side Out And Shut the Gap
Plow correct side out, using a point turner or a non-abrupt object like a chopstick or a knitting needle.
Press well, especially the opening. Topstitch around the bib, too closing the gap.
Pace 9 - Add Kam snaps or Other Type of Bib Closure
Concluding step: add KAM snaps. If y'all oasis't washed that before, here'due south an easy tutorial for you:
